the client asked suttondesign to convert a damaged basement with large vertical steel supports into a multi-use living area and utility room. the vertical steel was replaced with horizontal supports, and the low soffitt thereby necessitated suggested an excellent location for a long, customized peninsula. the peninsula cabinetry contains audio-video equipment on one side and utility storage on the back side. the laundry facilities are tucked away in the closet beyond.
elements here include custom-fabricated nylon area rug in contrasting colors; cork flooring; custom hardwood furniture; custom dining/gaming bench and table; and veneered-ply drop-in ceiling panels.
